53. No traffic jams, being able to get into the city in half the time
- Leicester City Council (LCC) transport plan is already exploring and addressing the issues surrounding this. The longer-term transport strategy will contribute to Leicester becoming a thriving, modern city where people can live, work and enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor leisure activities. To achieve this there are five key objectives with one overarching ambition: Quality of life for all, Tackling congestion, Delivering accessibility, Safer roads, Better air quality, Better roads, footways and cycleways. - Songlines - A communal mapping project based on GPS technologies, collectively creating updated routes across Leicester for walkers and cyclists based on local knowledge. It is supported by the DMU Transport Group and LCC. The maps can be accessed and updated on mobile phone. [added 16.2.11]
