Amplifying the collective intelligence of Leicester to imagine our city in 2020
VISION2020 Leicester - Ideas for the future
Vision2020 is the BIG discussion in Leicester
looking at how innovations can influence business, social and family life in the future.
We aim to:
- Create a vision of the socio-economic environment of Leicester and Leicestershire in 2020 and the impact of new technologies on business
- Contextualise emerging technologies and their potential for the creative industries sector in Leicester and Leicestershire
- Raise the profile of Leicester and Leicestershire and in particular the Cultural Quarter and Phoenix Square and Digital Media Centre among the business community
- Raise the profile of the creative sector in Leicestershire's well earned reputation for creativity, with key stakeholders in the city and region
It began...
on Wednesday 13 October 2010 at Phoenix Square Film and Digital Media Centre in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter when more than 200 creative thinkers shared ideas on how technology, networks and communities will shape the societies and businesses of tomorrow.
We listened to talks by amazing people. Then in a series of unconference conversations we shared our predictions, aims and aspirations for the coming decade. Together we created a wishlist for Leicester in 2020.
The result was dozens of ideas for how we can work towards a vision of the future without relying on major Government funding. We will soon bring you an Archive of the first amazing event.
October 13 was just the start
We'll update the wishlist with those ideas already in action in the city and track new activities as they emerge.
Look out for more events and projects. We'll feature them here.
What they said...
"It was a brilliant day!"
"Well done to all involved - really first class event that I think surprised a lot of people. Great buzz today after the conference and lots of chatter around the city."
"Any initiative that opens up the processes of planning for the future is very welcome indeed."
"Enjoyed myself immensely; I was at a conference in London that cost my company the best part of £2,000. This one cost the company a day’s wages and has already produced more benefits."
